UPDATE FROM JAMIE

Since moving from London to Broadstairs in 2010, I've been playing in wide variety of Kent venues and festivals including: The Maidstone Jazz Festival, The Broadstairs Food Fayre (Cabaret Evening),
Broadstairs Blues Bash www.broadstairsbluesbash.com, The Belgian Cafe and Harbour Jazz at the Small Boat Owners Club in Ramsgate; The Sarah Thorne Theatre (in concert) and The Lord Nelson in Broadstairs, Deco 5 in Whitstable and The Lighthouse Bar in Margate. I've been performing with a variety of excellent local musicians including Vince Clarke (drums),  Harry Cook (bass), Neil Francis (bass), Andee Price (bass), Veronica Cowper (vocals) Frances Knight (keyboards and accordion) and Dave Reay (guitars).   I also continue to play private and corporate functions in London and the South East.

One of the London based groups I perform with regularly is
CATS AND A  FIDDLE a swing group assembled by the great violinist Frank Biddulph, with David Horniblow on clarinet. Cats and a Fiddle is a swinging blend of standards, gypsy jazz and Eastern European favourites.

Highlights of 2011 (so far) include:

On 30 January 2011, I gave a solo guitar recital as part of the Broadstairs Music Recital Society's concert series. The programme included works by Bach, Baden Powell, Caracassi, Sanz, Satie, Sor, Tarrega, Villa-Lobos together with some of my own compositions and arrangements. The concert was well received and the promoters were very pleased that it attracted the largest audience to date.

On 12 March 2011, Dave Reay and I thoroughly enjoyed performing in a concert club setting at the Pizza Express Music Room, Maidstone www.pizzaexpresslive.com . On this occasion we were joined by Vince Clarke (drums and percussion) and Neil Francis (bass). Although all four of us know and respect each others' musicianship and have performed together in various permutations in the past, this was the first performance of this newly formed quartet.
You can view some selections on UTube and on the My Music page of this website.
Dave and I regularly gig throughout the South East with regular appearances at The Belgian Cafe in Ramsgate and The Lighthouse Bar in Margate. This summer we once again performed at the Maidstone Jazz Festival.

On 24 September 2011, Veronica Cowper and I performed in concert at The Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs. This was part of the Weekend Jazz series organised by saxophonist Paul Zec. The line up included Paul Zec (saxophones), Dave Silk  (bass) and Vince Clarke (drums). We were very pleased with the enthusiastic response to the music. We understand that this was by far the largest audience this series has attracted so far.

Looking forward to:

I am pleased to have been invited back by the Broadstairs Music Recital Society to give a guitar recital as part of their 2011/2012 concert series. The concert will take place on Sunday 29 January 2012
I am delighted that Dave Reay has agreed to join me on this occasion to perform some guitar duos together with some of our solo repertoire.

Dave and I continue to gig regularly throughout the South East and are currently recording our first CD together to coincide with a spring tour.

Besides our classical concert on 29 January, some of the highlights for 2012 include:

26 January 2012 - Keppels Music Room, The Grand, Folkestone (quartet)
3 March 2012 - Tom Thumb Theatre, Eastern Esplanade, Margate (duo)
27 May 2012 - Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Street, Soho, London (quartet)

A new recording of a collection of guitar music in the Beachkeys style is well under way and will also be available on CD.
